The Sunrise Coast is a 200-mile stretch of Lake Huron from Mackinaw City to Standish. It’s hard to choose just one place to visit, so if time and budget allow, see if you can do the entire route.
“It’s especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing color,” said Becky Hart of Seven Corners, Inc“You can make the most of the beach by kayaking, canoeing and other outdoor recreation activities, as well as leaf peeping that you typically only associate with the busier routes of the Northeast.”
There are also state parks, lighthouses, wooded parks with campgrounds and more to explore.
“A road trip along US-23, with stops at the many national parks, is a unique and cost-effective way to experience the beaches in the fall,” Hart said. “Non-Michigan residents can purchase a day pass to the national parks for just $11. An annual pass, ideal if you plan to stop at multiple parks during your trip, costs $40.”
